Stadium Development Moving Forward

With word out of DC being that their stadium plans are looking to move ahead, it's time to take a look at what's going on with the stadium development in Kansas City. Not much has been said about the redevelopment of Bannister Mall since the Save Bannister Group decided not to turn any more signatures in to the city to try and get the measure on the ballot. Since then things have been going on under the radar. The ordinance when into affect the day after with little to know fanfare, and the talks of groups second plan to stop the destruction of the mall haven't been seen yet. The plan is now waiting on state approval for the state funding that the project is getting. The funding looks to have bipartisan support, and according to Owen Buckley of Lane4, the word from the state should be coming in the next 60 to 90 days. Even with that length of time, demolition is still slated to begin in the spring or early summer, with 2010 still being the time when the stadium is set to open.
