More Call Ups for KC

Today we've learned that Kei Kamara was not the only player called up to represent his national team in the upcoming international break next weekend. Shavar Thomas has been called up by the Jamaican national team for their games on September 5th against Costa Rica and September 7th against Peru. The good news for the Wizards is that Thomas will not miss the Wizards game on September 4th against Philadelphia. Instead he will go straight from Philadelphia to Kingston where Jamaica will take on Costa Rica. The team then travels to Fort Lauderdale for their game against the South Americans.

Also announced today via Tweet, was that Roger Espinoza has apparently been called up by the Honduran national team for their upcoming games in LA against El Salvador on September 5th, and verse Canada in Montreal on the 7th. No word on whether Espinoza will pull a Thomas and play Saturday before jetting to LA to join the Honduran team. UPDATE: According to the Wizards press release today, Espinoza has only been called up for the game against Montreal on Tuesday the 7th. And he will play for KC against Philadelphia.

KC isn't quite on the level of TFC a few years ago (where they were allowed to make emergency signings for a game because of international call ups), but it's frustrating that MLS' playing on international dates almost really came to biting KC in the butt. It could potentially even get worse for KC if the Canadian national team were to happen to call up Teal Bunbury like some of the press have been wanting.
