What We Want to Happen Today 10/19

One game today, no real playoff implications directly for KC, but could have an effect come Saturday when KC take the field.

DC - Portland

What we want to happen
: Portland win

Anything less than a win for DC eliminates them from the playoffs before the Red Bulls even take the field on Thursday. But elimination from the playoffs could possibly put DC in the position of fielding a bit of a weakened lineup to get some guys time against KC this weekend. United currently sit on 38 points with 2 games left, giving them a maximum potential of 44 points. The Red Bulls are currently on 43, so even a DC win tonight could all be for nothing if New York defeats Philadelphia tomorrow night in New York.

I am rooting for a draw tonight. This would still eliminate DC from playoff contention, but keep Chicago and Portland alive if New York loses tomorrow. The Fire hosts Columbus on Saturday in a game whose outcome will matter to us if SKC does not take care of business at RFK. The Timbers finish at RSL, whose poor form lately may make them preferable to FCD as a potential playoff opponent. (On the other hand, Rio Tinto is a much tougher place to play than PHP.)
