KC to Host Olympic Qualifying?

This coming March and April, the US U23 team will attempt to qualify for the 2012 summer Olympics in London. And if Caleb Porter, the team's coach is to be believed, the semifinals and finals would seem to be in KC. On The Best Soccer Show, Porter said that the tournament would start in Tennessee before moving to KC, with the semifinals being on April 2nd. The semifinals are actually the key match ups in qualifying as the top two teams make it to the Olympics. So getting the semifinals is big for KC. The city has shown to be a pro US ground, not only for the Gold Cup earlier this year, but also the World Cup qualifier years ago, and even the women's game earlier this year. This is another opportunity to impress and for KC to prove they deserves to be near the top of the list when the USSF is looking for venues for World Cup qualifiers.

Per Rob Thomson, Sporting KC's VP of Communications though, no deal has been reached at this time. See the show (the section I'm talking about starts around 16:00.
