Top Scorers Through 2009

Time to start updating some of my stat stuff that I've gotten into posting in January. Starting it off is the Wizards top league scorers through the 2009 season.

For reference, here are the previous years of the list.
1996 - 1997 - 1998 - 1999 - 2000 - 2001 - 2002 - 2003 - 2004 - 2005 - 2006 - 2007 - 2008

2009 was not a kind year offensively to the Wizards, they finished with the second worst goals scored total, scoring only 33 goals. Even with that limited number of goals, there was movement on the list this year. The biggest mover of players already on the list, was Josh Wolff, who moved up 3 spots after scoring a career high 11 goals last season.

1. Preki - 71 (-)

2. Josh Wolff - 41 (+3)

3. Chris Klein - 39 (-1)

4. Davy Arnaud - 37 (-1)

5. Mo Johnston - 31 (-1)

6T. Digital Takawira - 28 (-)

6T. Scott Sealy - 28 (-)

8. Mark Chung - 20 (-)

9. Eddie Johnson - 17 (-)

10. Jimmy Conrad - 16 (-)

11. Chris Brown - 15 (-1)

12T. Matt McKeon - 13 (-)

12T. Jose Burciaga Jr. - 13 (-)

12T. Sasha Victorine - 13 (-)

12T. Claudio Lopez - 13 (N/A) - The Wizards first designated player joins the list in his second season with the team. He scored 6 his first season and another 7 this past season in league play to see him move onto this list. Still not under contract for the 2010 season, Lopez could stay in the log jam at 13 goals.

16T. Igor Simutenkov - 12 (-1)

16T. Miklos Molnar - 12 (-1)

16T. Chris Henderson - 12 (-1)

16T. Jack Jewsbury - 12 (-1)

20T. Francisco Gomez - 11 (-1)

20T. Paul Wright - 11 (-1)

As for who could be joining the list this next season, there aren't many for sure options. You have a guy like Zoltan Hercegfalvi who could make his way onto the list potentially with a good season, or Kei Kamara if the Wizards re-sign him. Still Hercegfalvi is going to have to score 9 just to make the list and Kamara is going to have to reach double digits to get on the list, so baring a huge offensive change, a new player joining next season won't happen. Here are the other current active Wizards.

Michael Harrington - 5
Aaron Hohlbein - 2
Zoltan Hercegfalvi - 2
Roger Espinoza - 1
Kevin Souter - 1
Michael Kraus - 1
Santiago Hirsig - 1
Kei Kamara - 1
