US into World Cup

Last night down in Honduras, the US qualified for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa with a 3-2 win over Honduras. After a scoreless first half the US fell behind in the 47th minute via a Julio Leon free kick. The US came back with 3 unanswered goals, two by forward Conor Casey, who got a surprise start ahead of Jozy Altidore. Landon Donovan got the third goal off of a free kick. Leon made it 3-2 later in the half. It looked like the US was going to have to settle for a draw when Honduras was given a penalty kick for a hand ball in the 87th minute, but Carlos Pavon skied the kick over the cross bar to keep the game at 3-2. The US withstood the pressure late on and qualified. Wizards defender and captain, Jimmy Conrad was on the bench for the US, but didn't see the field last night. Here are the game highlights for those that didn't make it anywhere to see the game.
