Reserves Struggle

The Swope Park Rangers ended a poor weekend for the Wizards with a poor result against Creighton University. The Rangers drew 2-2 with the Missouri Valley Conference Champions today out at the training complex. Only 2 players from last night's game played today, and that was Aaron Hohlbein and Santiago Hirsig, here's the rest of the starting lineup.
Pardo
McKenzie - Besler - Hohlbein - Marquess
Pizarro - Watson - Hirsig - Morsink
Thompson - Kraus

KC opened the scoring from the penalty spot after some what of a phantom call after a cross came into the box after a corner was only partially cleared. Former Creighton player, Michael Kraus stepped up and buried the shot to give the reserves the lead. Creighton fought back and began to control the game more, and were rewared with a goal later in the half. The Creighton player muslced Matt Besler off the ball a bit and was able to get a shot off that Boris Pardo should have done better with, as it went underneath him and into the net. Creighton continued to have the better of possession in the first half.

Half time only saw one change, as Austin Williams, one of the open tryout participants, came on for Santiago Hirsig, with Kurt Morsink moving to the middle of the field. The reserves looked a bit better, but it was Creighton that ended up taking the 2-1 lead on a nice shot after the Creighton player turned his defender. KC began to push the game more, and a 2nd goal for KC appeared to be on the way. It came when Abe Thompson played Kraus through on goal. Kraus touched the ball by the keeper, but was brought down. The referee pointed to the spot again, and once again Kraus stepped up and put the PK away. After that, KC looked the more likely of the two to score, but could not find the net, ending the contest at 2-2.

Thanks for the reserve match reports. It'll be interesting to see who the reserves end up playing all year and how many games they get. There's not a set schedule out there that I've missed is there?

Not that I've seen, I know they'll be playing Mizzou St as well, but that's about it that I've seen.

Hirsig needs to start, its embarrassing for such an accomplished player to be playing against creighton. it would be like sending alan gordon to play in korea.
