Juniors Fair Well In Springfield

Over the weekend, I posted about how the Wizards Juniors were down in Springfield this past weekend competing in the 2009 Greater Springfield Area Sports Commission "Champions Challenge." Well after the weekend finished up, the Juniors had themselves a pretty productive weekend. Five of the Wizards teams went down, and the 3 that were playing in divisions that standings were kept came home with some type of silverware. The U13 Juniors went 3-1 finishing second on goals against to a St. Louis Scott Gallagher team. The U15 team went 4-0 in their 5 team group taking home the championship. The U16 team was in a 6 team group that they ended up winning with a 1-0 win in the finals over local side, Sprinfield SC.

The U17's and U18's competed in a college showcase so standings were not kept in their division. Each had some good results over the weekend, especially the U18's who in a match up of the defending MO and KS state champs defeated Springfield SC 2-0. For more information on the tournament, check out either sgfsoccer.com or the tournaments official website. Well done Juniors.

2-1 to the Jr's who played very well. But our local boys did score a nice one 10 minutes into the 2nd half and came close. The Jr's deserved the win however and were very impressive. Looking forward to seeing more of them, and the rematch!
