Wizards Trade Sealy

The Wizards today announced the trade of forward Scott Sealy to the San Jose Earthquakes for allocation money. Sealy had scored 2 goals this season, in what had so far been a down year. He'll move to San Jose, who is the lowest scoring team in the league and look to reestablish himself as a goal scorer.

I'm going to hold out full judgment on this trade until I see what the Wizards do, if anything, with the allocation money this season. My first take on the trade, though, is that I don't overly like it, but it's a bit of a mixed bag. On the good side, Sealy has struggled this season and is out of contract at the end of the year. He'll requiring at least doubling his salary which is between $30K and $40K. On the bad side, our offense is already thin, I mean Ryan Pore is our first forward off the bench. My hope with the Wolff signing was that it would push Pore further down the bench and give us a decent offensive spark off the bench.

The midseason transfer window opens tomorrow, let the new transfer speculation begin

I hear KC got $150K in allocation money for Sealy. That's a total steal.

Getting rid of Sealy will have no affect whatsoever. Pardo could do just as good a job as Sealy right now...and probably get less offsides calls.
