Wizards 2008 Salaries

Just like the past few years, the MLS players union has released the salaries for all the players in MLS. The Wizards salaries are listed there as well. The one's missing, though, are the Wizards late preseason signings (Claudio Lopez & Ivan Trujillo).

Some notes on the list are the continued shortchanging forward Scott Sealy has gotten. He's definitely due for a raise once his current contract expires. The Wizards developmental players are still not making much of a living wage, as they're only making $12,900 a season. The senior developmental players are making a bit more, as they make $17,000. The highest paid player on this list (Lopez as a designated player makes much more), is Jimmy Conrad, making a base of $213,750. Wizards number one pick, Chance Myers, is making $70,000 in base salary. Here's the Wizards roster minus Trujillo and Lopez. The first number is the players' base salary for 08 the second is the players' guaranteed compensation for this year.

No wonder they're bent on starting Myers this much of that is paid by Adidas? Any?

On the leage level, I was shocked to see Reyna making 1,000,000 plus. What a joke.

Blanco looks to be second to Beckham, which makes sense to me, he was more valuable to his team.

Gallardo looked horrible last Saturday night, I'll assume he's worth the 1.5 mill DC is paying him.

Lopez must be making in the 1.5 Million area- that's my guess. Trujillo is obviously below $400K, but how much?

Very interesting.

being generation adidas players, i think both chance and roger cost the wizards zero dollars

I think, if I am correct, Adidas generation pays a base to which the teams add. Other wise Espinoza and Chance would be making the same amount.

Must admit, that is a lot of bread for a first year-out of college.... but he was the #1 Draft pick, lets hope he is worth it.

Wow, sucks for Leathers (a starter las Saturday). Can they really expect players to live off of $13 thou.

I wonder how this years salary total compares to last years and does anyone know how much KC got for selling Eddie Jhonson?

I can't imagine trying to live on 13k in Kansas City, particularly not with an athlete's diet. I can only hope that there are some perks in there somewhere on a team level, like seriously reduced housing costs with certain apartment complexes or so on. I seem to remember the old MISL Wichita Wings (which I grew up supporting) had some things like that arranged with local apartment complexes and even vehicle dealerships for reduced cost leases in exchange for advertising, and so on. If they're managing to defray some living expenses, its probably doable, but it still has to suck.
