Lopez Called into US U20 Team

Sporting KC's first round draft pick, Mikey Lopez, will miss the rest of Sporting's preseason and possibly the start of the regular season.  Today, Lopez was named to the 18 man US U20 roster ahead of CONCACAF qualifying for the U20 World Cup. Lopez is one of five MLS players that is named to the roster.

The tournament runs from February 18th through March 3rd in Puebla, Mexico. The US will train in Toluca ahead of the tournament.  The US is in group A with Costa Rica and Haiti.  The US open against Haiti on the 18th and against Costa Rica on the 22nd.  Should the US advance they'll play on the 26th in the quarterfinals.  The semifinals are set for the 1st of March and the finals on March 3rd. The US will need to advance to the semifinals to book themselves a trip to Turkey this summer for the World Cup.
