FC Kansas City to Host NWSL Inaugural Match vs Portland

FC Kansas City will open and close their inaugural season at home this season as the NWSL schedule was released.  FC Kansas City actually has the league's inaugural game as they'll host the Portland Thorns on Saturday, April 13th in the league's first game.

The Blues actually begin their season with their first 3 games at Shawnee Mission's District Stadium.  The following Saturday, April 20th, FCKC will host the Boston Breakers and then the next Friday the 26th they'll play the Seattle Reign before their first road trip to Seattle the next weekend.

As the season wears on, though, the schedule gets tighter for FCKC. In a span from Thursday, June 6th through Thursday, June 13th the Blues play in Portland, Seattle, and Chicago.  Then on the 16th they return home and play Chicago to give them 4 games in 11 days.

Then in late June, early July, the Blues go 2 straight weeks of flying in and out of KC.  On Sunday the 23rd they host the Washington Spirit then travel to New Jersey to play Sky Blue on Wednesday the 26th before returning home to play Portland on Sunday June 30th.  That coming Wednesday they again get to fly to the east coast to take on Washington before returning home to play Western New York on the 7th.

The Blues end the season at home against the Chicago Red Stars on August 18th.  The top 4 teams will meet in the playoffs on August 24th, with the two winners meeting in the final on August 31st.
