Omar Bravo to KC

Rumors out of Mexico today are that the Wizards are signing Omar Bravo from Mexican club, Chivas Guadalajara. Bravo would likely come in as a designated player, becoming the Wizards second designated player. Bravo's contract is currently held by Deportivo La Coruna, and was loaned out the past two seasons to Chivas and Tigres. Up until 2008 he'd played for Chivas and had a pretty good scoring record. Since than he's only scored 6 goals for his club team. He certainly brings some name appeal to the team as a current/former Mexican international. Hopefully he can recover some of his original form and help the Wizards reverse their scoring woes.

The Wizards will need to create a roster spot for Bravo.

Sounds like another PR move. That's too bad.

He's 30 and hasn't really scored consistently in the past two years. So, how could he help on the field?

And who leaves? Beasley? Zoltan?

dude, and you think mls teams, and our team in particular, can afford 23 year old world class strikers, and the transfer fees that come with them...really? maybe you should sober up before you next post...

Okay, guys, I'm done. No more comments from me. I will just be a distant fan, caring less and less. Thanks. Take care. Good luck.

I don't necessarily agree with pbunyar, but he makes a a valid point. If a guy has seen his career take a downturn over the past couple years, at his age, what's to say it's going to turn around? Additionally, look at the game last year versus Santos Laguna. It felt like an away game with so many S.L. fans. Maybe Bravo will bring some Chivas fans to the stadium. I'm sure K.C. has at least considered that from a p.r. perspective. Maybe it's not their main reason, but it could be a supporting one.

I would counter the point about a player not producing with the example of Ryan Smith though. Smith used to be at Arsenal. However, he ended up floating around in the Championship and League One. Now he's with K.C. and I think doing a good job. I'm not saying he was doing badly in the Football Leagues, but he obviously wasn't playing for a Premier side anymore. I'm glad we've got him.

Admittedly, I don't like the fact that it seems like we we keep picking up players on other teams periphery (Thomas and Bravo the latest), but maybe a chance with the Wizards could turn things around for one or two.

Of course there is some PR in this, it's a DP part of the DP set up is to bring in more fans, it's not rocket science to know there isn't some PR. But to just call this a PR move is retarded, short sighted, and shows a lack of knowledge of who Bravo is.

Don't let "anonymity + the internet" ruin your day.

Both pbunyar and Moop have articulate opinions that don't involve name calling or personal attacks.

As for Bravo - we need a guy who wants to shove the ball through the goal. Hope he's the man. If he helps us win, it'll bring more fans - and louder fans!

Yeah, I'm posting anonymously because I don't feel like being personally attacked.
