Wizards Defeat Brass

The Wizards once again defeated Kansas City's PDL team, the Brass today at the Swope Park training complex 7-1. KC started their first game under Peter Vermes with what could potentially be a starting lineup against Chicago a week from Sunday.
Hartman
Watson - Conrad - Hohlbein - Besler
Hirsig
Harrington - Jewsbury - Gomez
Zoltan - Wolff

Adam Cristman apparently missed the game due to being sick, while Davy Arnaud, Claudio Lopez, and Roger Espinoza are recovering from minor injuries. The Brass actually struck first, when Jimmy Conrad got shurgged off the ball and the Brass player scored past Kevin Hartman. Lance Watson was the one that found the equalizer for the Wizards soon after. Not long later, Matt Besler got in on the scoring, putting away a Herculez Gomez corner with his head. KC went into half time with that lead.

At half time, KC made full changes to the team, as the Swope Park Rangers took the field in the second half for the Wizards.
Pardo
Leathers - Besler - McKenzie - Marquess
Morsink
Myers - Zusi - trialist
Kraus - Thompson

Abe Thompson opened up the scoring for the Wizards, making it 3-1, before Chance Myers scored on a diving header to make it 4-1. Defensive midfielder, Kurt Morsink made it 5-1 scoring from distance and Michael Kraus made it 6-1. Josh White and Eric Kronberg both entered the game to get some playing time as well, replacing Besler and Boris Pardo respectively. Thompson finished off the scoring late in the game as he stole the ball and placed it in the far post.

This is the last game the Wizards/Rangers will play against PDL opposition this year, as the players are all heading back for their college season soon. The Rangers, though, will be getting more games this fall against college teams again, as they did in the spring. They'll be playing Creighton on Monday August 24th.

Interesting how Morsink's been scoring in these past friendlies, all from far-off shots. If my memory serves me right -although it's past 2am- he's scored 3 in the last couple of months. How's he been playing, Mike? You've been watching him in all these friendlies. I think they should give him a chance and sit Hirsig, who loses balls like Shaq missing FTs.

He has been looking decently, but you also have to remember the level of opposition he was playing. No offense to the Brass, Demize, Menace, or whoever, but these are all teams full of college players most, if not all, of whom are playing now at the highest level they ever will.

I just don't know if he'd bring any more to the table than Hirsig has. How quickly people forget the bashing they were giving Morsink the last two years outside the one month he played really well.

I actually didn't see the game, I'm relying on reports I got from others at the game. Due to my schedule at my new job, I couldn't make the game.
