Ellis Re-Signed?

Only a few days ago, it sounded like Sporting KC's second home grown player, Kevin Ellis was not going to be returning to Sporting KC in 2015. Sporting and the defender had not come to an agreement on a new contract with the club. And outside of that, Sporting looked like there were ready to move on, drafting three outside backs in the 2015 MLS Superdraft.

That all looks like it has changed with a single Tweet tonight from Ellis. Ellis Tweeted out "It all starts tomorrow !! @KCCauldron Can't wait to hear and see you guys in March !! #IloveKC."

It's not hard to guess that this means that Ellis will be returning to KC in 2015. Ellis also appeared in the team's preseason video that the club posted earlier today on their website. No official word from the club yet on his re-signing though.

2015 was a breakout season for Ellis who played every single position along Kansas City's back line due to injuries and call ups throughout the season. Originally mainly a back up, Ellis' main contribution last year was at center back where he partnered with basically every other healthy center back on the roster. From Matt Besler to Erik Palmer-Brown. His contribution was quite underrated by most fans last year, but Ellis came through and was a huge help to Kansas City throughout the season. His return will certainly help Kansas City in the 2015 season.

Glad he's back. Looks like Besler is going to miss a lot of time with USMNT. Ellis is definitely a better Center Back. Can play fullback defensively but isn't effective going forward. Good depth.

Really liked his effort last season. Had a stretch of a few games where he was brilliant, lights out defensively. Hoping he only gets better. We need him. I don't trust half our CB options as they are right now, injuries and overall class what have you, and I don't believe EPB is close to featuring for us. Gonna miss the AC78 from the jump...

Looks like Duke is back in camp. After having his option declined should we assume he is on trial with us now trying to win a spot?
