10,000 Minute Club

It's time to start updating my stats again ahead of the 2015 MLS season. In doing so I'll try to do one every day or every other day or so as we head towards the 2015 MLS season. We'll start with the 10,000 minute club.

This year, Sporting had one player join the list this year. Graham Zusi became the 15th player to play 10,000 minutes for Kansas City in league play. Meanwhile, Matt Besler, who joined the list in 2013, moved all the way up to eighth. on the list and is less than 160 minutes away from catching Jack Jewsbury for seventh place on that list. As for who can join the list this year, Seth Sinovic should easily join the list, he is just over 100 minutes from joining the list. If Chance Myers can come back heathly, he'll make the list, he's less than 900 minutes away. And the third player that should make the list is Roger Espinoza, Sporting's newest signing is 1,750 minutes away. In his last three seasons with KC, Espinoza had averaged over 2,100 minutes, so he too should be joining the list. Here's the 15 players currently.

1. Kerry Zavagnin - 20,516
2. Nick Garcia - 20,158
3 Davy Arnaud - 19, 399
4. Jimmy Conrad - 18,194
5. Preki - 17,818
6. Chris Klein - 16,381
7. Jack Jewsbury - 13,275
8. Matt Besler - 13,116
9. Mo Johnston - 12,600
10. Michael Harrington - 11,633
11. Matt McKeon - 11,584
12. Jimmy Nielsen - 11,497
13. Josh Wolff - 11,467
14. Tony Meola - 11,331
15. Graham Zusi - 10,690

In all competitions, two new players joined the list in 2014. Sinovic played his third straight season with over 3,000 minutes to comfortably join the list this year. Also joining the list was Aurelien Collin who joined the list late on, but still made his way on as this list has now hit 21 players. As for who could join in 2015, there's really only one candidate, and that's Espinoza again who sits just under 400 minutes away from joining this list. Meanwhile, higher up the list Besler became just the 7th player on Kansas City to reach 15,000 minutes in all competitions for the club. Although with his current position on the list it'll take at least another season after 2015 before he moves any higher in his quest to play the most minutes of anyone for the club.
