Athletics Begin Attempt to Qualify for Open Cup Again

Coming up later this month, the KC Athletics will begin their campaign to qualify for their second straight US Open Cup. On April 30th, Kansas City will play host to the Iowa Menace in a Region II qualifier. The game is one of 3 qualifiers that are set to take place on that date. The other two involve Lafayette Sports Club (IN) vs AAC Eagles out of Illinois (who the Athletics beat last year to qualify) and Viking AA (IL) vs Detroit United. The winner of those three games by the largest margin will qualify automatically for the US Open Cup automatically. The other two winners will go on to face each other with the winner being Region II's second qualifier for the open cup. Good luck to the Athletics, I hope to make it out to the game wherever they host it before Sporting KC's game against New York that same night.
