What We Want to Happen Today 10/17

Sporting Kansas City did themselves no favors last night in their 1-0 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes. Now they're into wait and watch mode for positioning. With the loss they cannot clinch a playoff spot this weekend. They now have to wait until the Colorado game to have the chance again to clinch. But with three games today here's a look at what KC wants to happen.

Columbus at Toronto
What we want to happen - Draw

Like all Eastern Conference match ups, this game is all about potential MLS Cup hosting. A win puts Toronto four points clear of KC, a Columbus win moves them two points clear of KC. Better to have them leave points on the table.

Montreal at New England
What we want to happen - draw

A draw levels New England on points with Kansas City and keeps Montreal behind Sporting as well. Allows KC to keep both teams behind them with two games left.

Dallas at Salt Lake
What we want to happen - Salt Lake win

RSL can no longer catch Sporting KC for points this year, so there's no worry about them passing Sporting with a win. The win also keeps Dallas close. Unfortunately due to tie breakers KC can no longer pass FC Dallas because if Dallas lose out and KC win out the two teams would tie for points but Dallas will end up having more wins than KC therefore finishing above them in the table. But since RSL can't catch KC I'd rather the teams above KC drop points.
