Rosell Named to Catalan Squad for Friendly

While it's not it's own country, the autonomous community of Spain called Catalonia has it's own national team that plays international games through the year. The Catalan region of Spain is in the northeast of the country and includes the capital city of Barcelona.

Catalonia has a friendly coming up on December 30th against African side Cape Verde.  A player that would likely be consider a surprise addition, is Sporting KC midfielder, Oriol Rosell, was included in the roster. The KC midfielder is one of only two foreign based players named to the roster, the being Bojan Krkic of Ajax.

This is a huge honor for Rosell as he'll get to play with some of the regions best, including eight from the club of his youth Barcelona. The Barcelona contingent includes the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Gerard Pique, and Jordi Alba. Certainly a star studded group. But this has to be a great honor for Rosell and a chance to show himself off with some of the worlds best.
