For those that looked at the lineup tonight for Sporting KC, there might have been a few "who?" comments when looking at the back up goalkeeper on the bench. Others would know exactly who it was. The back up keeper tonight against Montpellier tonight was Scott Angevine, a local KC area product who has trained with the team during the summer while he was in school Angevine went to school with KC's second round draft pick, Cyprian Hedrick.
Angevine becomes the 7th KC area player on the roster as KC continues to utilize their local pipe line of players. The one other thing that the signing of Angevine likely means, is that the team's first home grown player, Jon Kempin is likely done for the year after breaking his ankle. The injury forced KC to go with only two keepers for a while, although league keeper Scott Spangler trained with the team. Spangler though was out hurt as well, and Angevine now gets his shot on the roster.
The team hasn't officially announced the move, although Angevine has posted he's signed on Twitter, his college has a release about it, and from comments Thad made on Twitter yesterday, he wouldn't have been able to dress tonight if he wasn't signed. The move is apparently just awaiting league approval before the team announces it.
