Wizards After Gudjohnsen

Yesterday evening, Thad over at The Back Post said that the Wizards were close to signing or making an offer to a player to be the Wizards second designated player in team history. Tonight on bigsoccer, Robb Heineman let the cat out of the bag and said that the Wizards have made a formal offer to Icelandic international, Eidur Gudjohnsen. Gudjohnsen has a strong club history having played for both Chelsea and Barcelona. Most recently, Gudjohnsen played for Tottenham Hot Spurs in the Premier League on loan from Monaco. Gudjohnsen is 31, still some years left for him to play. As long as he's willing to really play and not just collect a pay check he could be one of the best, if not the best designated player in the league.

I've been a fan of Gudjohnsen's for years, and I'm very excited about this potential move. Here's a highlight package of Gudjohnsen.

I am blown away by this move. This guy was a stud for Chelsea and has majorly underachieved since leaving there.

If he still has fuel in the tank, he'll be a HUGE help.

Kudos to Ongoal if they seal this deal.

Andy van der Meyde is horrible, no way is he worth a DP slot.
