Chances of Gudjohnsen in Wizards Blue?

Ever since Robb Heineman announced that the Wizards had made an offer for Icelandic forward, Eidur Gudjohnsen the question many Wizards fans have asked how likely it is that Gudjohnsen would actually come to KC. When Heineman made the announcement he said the Wizards were going up against Tottenham for Gudjohnsen's signature. Lately though, it appears that the Wizards are going to end up on the losing end of this deal. Along with Harry Redknapp still pushing for Spurs to sign Gudjohnsen, Fulham has now really gotten into the race, and appear that they may be the ones that sign Gudjohnsen if Spurs don't step up and sign him first. The lack of news on the Wizards place in this deal outside the US could be seen as a little worrisome as well, but it could also be that lack of belief in this from across the pond. Overall while people are excited to see the team at least trying to bring in a designated player, it certainly doesn't seem like the Wizards have much of a shot at him. London vs KC would seem to be an easy choice for some people, but it's not that easy, I still hold out hope that Gudjohnsen will be in a Wizards jersey, even if that hope is small. Do I think it will happen though? Probably not.

When Rob made his Bigsoccer post, I immediately though this is one of two things: either we have him signed and will announce it officially soon, or we have no shot at him.

Rob only gets detailed if there is something to it, he is usually much more cloak and dagger about signings (see Eloy Colombano and others). For him to come out and clearly state a targets name is pretty substantial.

I guess if you are an optimist you believe it means he is signed, or if you are a pessimist you think it is mere posturing.

As much as I want to be, it is really hard to be optimistic about this team right now....

Andy Van Der Meyde is what I would sign if this were my choice

It's a good thing you're not because Van Der Meyde is horrible and a locker room cancer, would be a terrible pick up.
