Swope Park Rangers Schedule Released

The Swope Park Rangers will kick off their inaugural season at home in 2016, hosting the Portland Timbers 2 at Children's Mercy Park on Saturday, March 26th. The game is one of two that will be hosted at CM Park for the Rangers in their first season, the second will be on August 21st when KC hosts Saint Louis FC in the fourth of four games against the Rangers cross state rival. The rest of the club's games will take place at the Swope Soccer Village on the Championship Field at Swope Park.

The Rangers will play four each against Saint Louis, the Tulsa Roughnecks, and Oklahoma City Energy in 2016 along with three (two home and one away) against both Rio Grande Valley FC and the expansion San Antonio team. Swope Park will also play the three Pacific Northwest teams (Portland Timbers 2, Seattle Sounders FC 2, and Vancouver Whitecaps 2) twice, once home and once away. The other six Western Conference teams once each, hosting the LA Galaxy 2 and Orange County Blues FC while traveling to face Arizona United SC, Colorado Spring Switchbacks FC, Real Monarchs SLC and Sacramento Republic FC to complete their 30 game schedule. The Rangers won't face off against any of the Eastern Conference teams this season.

It's a rough start to the season for the Rangers as they'll play nine of their first 14 games on the road, including all three of their trips to the Pacific Northwest as well as Sacramento. They'll end the season home heavy though only going on the road once after August 13th, finishing with six of their last seven games at either Swope Park or Children's Mercy Park.

For conflicts with the parent club, the Rangers and Sporting KC play on the same day nine times during the season, but none of those dates see both teams at home at the same time. Two of the games actually see Sporting KC at home on the same night as the Rangers are playing a game on the road at a very drivable location, April 2nd KC plays Real Salt Lake while the Rangers travel to Tulsa and September 18th when KC plays the LA Galaxy and the Rangers travel to take on the Energy. Another interesting one is on April 27th when KC is in Vancouver the Rangers are actually scheduled to host the Whitecaps USL team.
