We Want Silverware

While the Wizards side of the US Open Cup bracket still has 3 MLS teams in it, the Wizards are into the Quarterfinals of the US Open Cup. They play the Seattle Sounders next Tuesday in Seattle with a chance to advance on to the semifinals. Personally I think it's time to bring home some more silverware, and the Open Cup is the opportune chance to do it. Only 3 games separate the Wizards from winning the Dewar Cup. With almost 5 years having gone by since the Wizards brought home some silverware, it's time the Wizards change that and actually win a trophy. Winning the Open Cup would likely mean sacrificing a game or two in league play. If it brings home the Open Cup, I don't have a major problem with that fact.

What do you think? How serious should the Wizards take the Open Cup now that they are in the final 8?

I agree with ya Mike, we arent winning the MLS Cup or Supports Shield this year (sorry to say it guys) and with of poor performance in SuperLiga, I hope we put some effort into trying to get good results from this tourney.

Yeah, I want to win the Open Cup. I would LOVE it! Obviously it's not as a big deal as winning league but it's still worth trying for and I honestly believe we can win the Cup and still make it into the playoffs. It's not too big of a stretch.

Agree, watching the replay and the highlights several issues standout; the early creativity by Leathers, Kraus, and Morsink along with Pardo's keeping, helped put points up quickly. When we played tight man-on-man, the thunder did very little with the ball. We do much better with the extra pass just outside the box or in the box, than with the low yield shot(watch the highlights and Kraus' first goal).

also if won the open cup I'm pretty sure we'd get a chance at participate in the concacaf champions league. I'd like to see us continue to compete in international tournaments

Agree. Play the A-squad and make a hard run at silverware.

Really it just depends on what will go good in the cup. I mean are we talking wine, beer, juice...? And will the cup complement the silverware we already have? We don't want to upset the ambiance of the table now do we?

We already have one Open Cup Nathan, so a second will fit in nicely right next to it.

F- yeah. KC needs to bring it. Plus we owe Seattle some payback after they knocked us out of the LHUSOC last year.
