Sporting Sign Left Back Bessone

Today is the MLS roster freeze deadline, it's the last day that teams can sign players until after the season. Sporting Kansas City moved today to get them some depth on the left side of their back line. They announced the signing of Argentine left back, Federico Bessone.

The 29 year old Bessone is a product of the Barcelona youth system, although the highest he made it there was to Barcelona's C team (Oriol Rosell made B). Since leaving Barcelona, he's spent most of his playing career in England, playing with Swansea City, Leeds, Charlton, Swindon, and most recently Oldham Athletic. He has played a whole lot at any of the locations though.

He's likley mainly going to be a depth signing for left back, but he'll also be pushing Seth Sinovic hopefully at the same time. Of course I thought similar things about Neven Markovic last year, he played 2 games and is now in the Swiss Second Division.

This moves looks like it could be KC's only one today. With the signing and the return of KC's players in Orlando, that puts Sporting at the roster limit of 30. To bring anyone else in, they'd need to send someone else out. The window to sign players is until 4pm Central Time today.
