Sporting Select Goalkeeper David Greczek with Final Superdraft Pick

Sporting Kansas City had one selection on the second day of the MLS Superdraft, selecting Rutgers goalkeeper, David Greczek with the 14th pick of the third round, the 58th selection overall. Greczek started all four years at Rutgers, appearing 75 times for the Scarlet Knights. Greczek spent time in the New York Red Bulls academy as well as training with New York City FC in 2015.

The 22 year old though seems to have an uphill path to make Sporting KC, with the club already having three goalkeepers under contract for 2017 in Tim Melia, Andrew Dykstra, and Adrian Zendejas. He may have a shot though at making the Swope Park Rangers, where the club has yet to sign any goalkeeper as of yet (although the expectation is that Zendejas will go on loan there for most/all of the USL season to get playing time). What it does do, is give Sporting KC another body in goal early on in preseason, which is something the club always likes to have.
