Kempin Named Homegrown Game MVP

Last night in Portland, the first Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game took place as part of the week's All Star Game festivities. Sporting Kansas City was represented on the team with goalkeeper Jon Kempin and defender Erik Palmer-Brown.

While Kempin didn't start the game for the MLS side as they took on the Portland Timbers U23 team, he did walk away with the game's MVP award. Kempin made two saves in his 45 minute appearance in the game. Meanwhile, teammate Palmer-Brown played the entire game as a right back for the MLS side. Both teams had some chances throughout the game but neither was able to find the net. The MLS side showed a lot of good individual skill, but as you'd expect, didn't show a whole lot of team cohesion as the players had only been together for a short time.
