Career Ending Injury for Sporting KC

The news surrounding KC today has been specifically focused on the quotes from Peter Vermes last night related to Jermaine Jones and the potential in him coming to MLS. And while the potential of Jones coming to MLS and possibly Kansas City is something fun to think about, the potential of him coming to KC is unlikely.

The interesting bit dropped is when Vermes is talking about all the issues KC has gone through this season that has led them into looking to be active this summer during the window. Vermes said "we’re banged up. We have three players, two of which are season-ending injuries, probably even a little into next year. We have another guy that has a career-ending injury..." The two season ending injuries we knew about, Chance Myers and Ike Opara are both out with injuries that ended their season. And while he doesn't come out and say it, I think it's quite easy to figure out who KC's player is with a career ending injury, Peterson Joseph.

Joseph hasn't practiced with the team since apparently suffering a medical issue at practice during the playoffs. He's had a number of tests run to help confirm what the issue is, they apparently have not given conclusive results, it's not surprising that Joseph's playing career may be done.

It'd be a disappointing finish to a career for a player that had at times looked impressive for KC. A little aggressive at times (see his red card vs Houston) but was a decent talent for KC. I do like the fact that if it is a career ending injury, that Sporting hasn't just thrown him out to free up the spot on the roster. It shows the concern that the team really has for him.
