Myers Done for the Season

Sporting KC's injury crisis in defense continues. The rumors that the injury Chance Myers picked up on Friday night being severe are true. Today the team announced that Myers will have surgery Wednesday to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon in his left ankle.

The injury is the last bit of news that Sporting needed at this point. The team has now lost two defenders to season ending surgery, Ike Opara being the other. Add in Aurelien Collin still having not returned from injury, Matt Besler and Lawrence Olum on international duty, and Oriol Rosell a midfielder who can cover defensively also injured, and KC is in a full blown injury crisis.

The injury leaves KC with just four defenders available for Tuesday's game vs New York, Kevin Ellis, Igor Juliao, Erik Palmer-Brown, and Seth Sinovic, unless Collin or Rosell can return.

With the injury I'd expect Juliao and Ellis to fill in back on the right side once the current center back issues are resolved. What that means is that I really don't expect Ellis to be going back to Oklahoma City this season.

about to enter his prime and now there is the possibility that he may never be 100% again. ouch. fortunately Juliao looks like a real prospect. it'll be fun watching him get minutes. high ceiling on that kid.
